Texas lawmaker accuses White House of BP shakedown
WASHINGTON (AP) — A leading House Republican accused the White House Thursday of a “ billion shakedown” of oil giant BP by requiring the company to establish a huge fund to compensate those hurt by the Gulf Coast oil spill.

Protesters in Texas rally against BP
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) – Protesters in Texas were calling for the U.S. government to seize the assets of well operator BP PLC. About six demonstrators rallied outside the Texas Capitol Wednesday, holding up signs such as “Seize BP’s Assets” and “BP gets rich. The people and the planet pay the price.”
