HOUSTON (Reuters) – A gathering storm was set to delay efforts to capture more oil gushing into the Gulf of Mexico, even as BP Plc said on Monday a relief well being drilled to end the leak for good was within 20 feet (6 metres) of the blown-out well.

The first tropical storm of the 2010 hurricane season was christened June 26. Tropical Storm Alex formed in the western Caribbean and, on Saturday morning, was heading toward the Yucatan Peninsula with maximum sustained winds of 40 miles per hour.
