US coast guard officials say they have found a new leak at the site where an offshore drilling rig sank into the Gulf of Mexico last week. They estimated five thousands barrels were now leaking into the sea every day. Earlier clean up crews lit a controlled test fire in to try and clean up the slick. The spill is threatening wildlife and fisheries on the coastline.

Several different measures are being taken to clean up the oil spill, including the gathering of oil, spreading dispersants, using remotely operated vehicles, deploying booms for easier skimming oil and controlled burning, drilling a relief well and fitting 100-ton containment chamber over the leak.

In this video, made from from Alabama resident John Wathen, a private pilot volunteer who flew over the area where the oil rig sank, shot this incredible video footage, bringing home the fact that this disaster is unstoppable, and BP is trivializing it. Officials have stopped guessing at the amount of oil leaking although some speculate it may be closer to 1 million gallons per day. Some say it may be up to 5 million gallons a day.
