Winds and currents keep oil spill away from Florida, officials say
BRADENTON — Gulf winds and currents are continuing to keep an oil plume from the Deepwater Horizon spill away from the Florida coast for at least the next 72 hours, officials reported today.

SBA to Open Business Recovery Centers in Florida for Businesses Affected by the Deepwater BP Oil Spill

Relief and dread as oil spill enters current flowing to South Florida
Although the dozens of tar balls found in the Keys are not from the the Deepwater Horizon spill, the Coast Guard says “a small portion” of the oil slick has entered the Gulf’s loop current and could reach the Florida Straits in seven or eight days.
