Experts: Oil from BP blowout not likely to reach South Florida, Keys
The risk of oil from the Deepwater Horizon blowout reaching the Florida Keys and South Florida anytime soon is now so remote that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has suspended its trajectory maps for the area, effectively downgrading the region to low risk.

Studies suggest MMS knew blowout preventers had ‘critical’ flaws
The federal agency charged with setting safety standards for offshore oil exploration failed to act on at least four warnings about vulnerabilities in subsea blowout preventers, the critical safety device that failed to shut down the Gulf oil spill when the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded April 20.

This could be one of the worst oil spills ever, so far. At least 5000 barrels per day of oil is leaking from some 5000 feet below the ocean surface, covering over 2100 square miles.

Cayo Costa Park, FL & How to plug Deepwater Horizon Oil Blowout 2

Posted on May 23, 2010 by bp complaints

Pristine habitat, at Cayo Costa, Florida, on eastern Gulf of Mexico, will hopefully be unscathed by discharge of crude oil, actively flowing into the Gulf of Mexico. Life found it’s way to Cayo Costa, will the petroleum find it’s way here, too? Ponder this: day -to-day 4000 oil platforms in Gulf . Financial impact of one problematic rig is? Funnel “containment” devices are for harvesting oil, not plugging blowout. Ans: Shut down all BP rigs until blowout is plugged, so complete focus is on the problem rig with no distraction from the other platforms; then resume business as usual, employees get paid time off. Watch how fast it gets plugged. Dispersants? dilution is not solution to pollution. www.globalsoundstream.com

CITIZEN SOLDIER ~ THREE DOORS DOWN ~ DEEPWATER HORIZON OIL BLOWOUT 33

Posted on May 20, 2010 by bp complaints

The Deepwater Horizon oil spill (also referred as BP oil spill,[5] Gulf of Mexico oil spill, and Macondo blowout) is a massive ongoing oil spill and oil gusher in the Gulf of Mexico that started on April 20, 2010. The spill followed a blowout that caused an explosion on the Deepwater Horizon offshore drilling rig, which then sank off the coast of Louisiana.[2] Eleven rig workers are missing and presumed dead; the explosion also injured 17 others.[6] The oil spill covers a surface area of at least 2500 square miles (6500 km2) according to estimates reported on May 3, 2010 by CNBC.[3] The oil spill, originating from a deepwater oil well 5000 feet (1500 m) below sea level, is discharging an estimated 525 thousand barrels (210,0001,100000 US gallons; 790,0004,000000 litres) of crude oil daily.[7] The spill is expected to eclipse the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill as the worst US oil disaster in history.[8] Experts fear that it will result in an environmental disaster as the oil from the well site reaches the Gulf coast, damaging the Gulf of Mexico fishing industry, tourism industry, and habitat of hundreds of bird species.[9][10] Crews are working to block off bays and estuaries, using anchored barriers, floating booms, and sand-filled barricades along shorelines. BP was principal developer of the “Macondo Prospect” oil field and leased the drilling rig from Transocean Ltd.[11] The US Government has named BP as the responsible party in the incident and will hold the company
