   This latest excuse for removing the BOP is bogus. The real reason to remove the current BOP is because it has a potentially faulty spool bolted to the BOP riser which then bolts to the stacking cap. This spool has a pressure limit of 7.500 psi, which is the weak link in the system. Never mind that when they installed this spool and cap they were expecting to see 9,000 psi when the flow was stopped. This was obviously a gigantic error by the “scientific team” that approved this operation way back in July.

   Admiral Allen disclosed this spool pressure limit on Aug 14. It appears that the “scientific team” is afraid that if the spool were to fail during the bottom kill, they will be exposed as the fools they are. That’s the real reason to get the current BOP off the well.

   Stating that they don’t to risk damage to the BOP because it is needed as evidence is a joke. This wasn’t a concern when they pumped cement thru it in the static kill? Now they want to put a drill thru it to extract a pipe that may be trapped with cement on the down side of the BOP.

   While they are changing the BOP, the well will sit there with no protective device for 48 hours. If that is no risk, then why do they need to install another BOP after they do a successful bottom kill?

   Why would you need a BOP, which requires an external hydraulic pressure source from a ship above, on a permanently killed dead well. Can anyone explain the logic in this comedic exercise?
