Illustrates the intended use of the Top Hat containment dome developed to cap one of the underwater oil leaks. Top Hat dome is lowered to the ocean floor to cap the leaking riser. Methanol and warm water pumped into the Top Hat chamber to prevent the formation of ice-like crystals called hydrates which hampered the larger cofferdam chamber. Oil funneled to waiting ship.
