It is doing what its supposed to do… what do you think a dispersant does? The short answer is it breaks up the oil matrix by likely overcoming the van der waals attraction force that is common in oil. Once that is accomplished UV, mechanical, thermal, and biological break down can occur. Need I remind you people that fossil fuels are created by biological and thermal processes?
Hmmm this sad happening reminds me on this:
The Seven Trumpets
Revelation 8:7, Upon the sounding of the second, a great, flaming mountain falls into the sea. A third of the oceans turn to blood, a third of the sea creatures are killed and a third of the rivers and springs, poisoning them and the many men who drink from them.
The oil looks red in the water…
bad things happen to folks who blow the whistle. BP has a habit of hunting down and destroying the careers of those who warn of pipeline problems.
In one case, BP’s CEO of Alaskan operations hired a former CIA expert to break into the home of a whistleblower, Chuck Hamel, who had complained of conditions at the pipe’s tanker facility. BP tapped his phone calls and ran a surveillance and smear campaign against him. When caught, a US federal judge said BP’s acts were “reminiscent of Nazi Germany”
‘A Louisiana State University researcher who has studied their effects on marine life said that by breaking oil into small particles, surfactants make it easier for fish and other animals to soak up the oil’s toxic chemicals. That can impair the animals immune systems and cause reproductive problems.
“The oil’s not at the surface, so it doesn’t look so bad, but you have a situation where it’s more available to fish,” said Kevin Kleinow, a professor in LSU’s school of veterinary medicine.’
Analysis of sea floor video made available Wednesday by BP suggests that 70,000 barrels a day are pouring into the Gulf, not 5,000 barrels a day .
The 1989 Exxon Valdez tanker accident in Alaska has spilled 250,000 barrels,
so there has been spilled 1 exxon valdez amount per 4 days !!!!!!!!!!!!
Rather than shutting them down, the US Government should nationalize BP. Then either sell off all the assets or operate the business. All the profits could go towards paying for the cleanup.
In some honorable nations, business leaders that cause these type of problems, kill them selves. They cause a massive leak from the source, and then use the worst chemicals they could to mix it all up with. Waterboard them with the same water/oil/poison they have created!
Watch Philipe, grandson of Jacques Cousteau, dive right into the mixture and what happens to him!!!
This chemical is proven to be toxic. Yet the EPA says it isn’t and is allowing BP to continue using it. The only purpose of using the dispersant is to make the oil disappear below the surface.
THIS IS LIKE A CRIMINAL COMPOUNDING HIS CRIME BY KILLING A WITNESS!
The top executive at BP and the EPA should go to jail for life!
If this were China, they would all have been hung by now.
But instead, the Coast Guard is threatening to arrest reporters for trying to film and photograph the crime scene
Hey – don’t just blame BP for this disaster – look at the bigger picture!!!
If we all weren’t so reliant on this fossil fuel commodity for use in everyday life, then companies like BP wouldn’t need to try and extract oil from such crazy places. Think about it – it ain’t all one way traffic!
This is disgusting, and such a tragedy. This is going to destroy that area for years to come. I also find it disgusting how the conservatives blame it all on President Obama. Way to latch on to a tragedy to push your political agenda.
hopefully this event is the end of bp, it certainly is the last nail on the coffin for the usa.
2.9 billion dollar seafood market gone for an estimated 5-10 years
1/3 of all seafood in america comes from the gulf
estimates for cleanup costs are soaring into the trillions and will keep climbing every day this continues
florida will have black sand beaches this summer!!!!
This is only what we see. Corexit, the dispersant they are using subsurface and on the surface makes the oil denser so it is not visible thus hiding the true problem.
A lot more oil especially by volume is subsurface in the gulf moving around. The subsurface currents move in different directions that suface waters.

Why the HELL were they allowed to use these dispersants?
