Yes, they will be affected. To what degree will be the question. Depending where you get for crawdads from there may or may not be toxic contamination.
The main line will be the depth of saltwater intrusion. Where ever there is salt water in LA, there will most likely be contamination. Once the salt water makes it up the rivers and flood plains as much as it does if there is fresh water continuing up stream there will most likely be minor contamination.
The rate of the contamination and depth inland will depend on what is done at land/river-sea interface. Communities should start preparing for defense, either bioremediation, nutralization, damming, many ideas should be starting to be come up with. Wait for the government or BP and it will be too late nor can they defend the 300 +/- mi of coast.
SOOOO…. If there are crawdads in a body of water a ways from the coast should be “ok”. Depends when you go for them. I give it 2 weeks before its a ways up some of the water ways.

Crawfish, members of the superfamilies Astacoidea and Parastacoidea, are freshwater crustaceans. Crawfish don’t live in salt water. Here in Louisiana, some crawfish are even ‘farmed’ in contained ponds. Of course, there is a possibility that the oil spill will spread into some freshwater estuaries. Salt water generally doesn’t flow upstream. The rivers flow downstream, into the Gulf of Mexico. Yes, tides do cause some saltwater to enter the mouth of a river. There is some mixture of salt and freshwater, but it is generally confined to the lower parts of the river near the mouth. Sure, some crawfish may be affected by the spill, but you’ll probably have no trouble getting good, clean crawfish. However, you may pay a premium price for them. Many fishermen, shrimpers, etc. have gone to the coast to help try to contain the spill, by acting as ‘tour guides’ for BP and the coast guard, in effect offering navigational advice regarding the area.
Not the farmed crawfisih.
Oh my god, that oil spill will be go down in history as the one that ruined the Gulf of Mexico and polluted most of the East Coast beaches as well.
they did not even stop the oil comin out. its still getting bigger. its gonin to killl so many animals. every one should pray for them.
