Deepwater Horizon oil rig still on fire after huge explosion

The US coast guard is searching for 11 missing workers after an oil rig explosion in the Gulf of Mexico. Authorities say a boat carrying over 100 survivors has docked in Louisiana. Several others were airlifted to hospitals, and at least three are in a critical condition. The platform remains ablaze hours after the blast. It’s unclear what caused the explosion.

well I would say this invest in oil stock’s while you can with these two huge losses in oil we have right now you gonna be a rich man in about 2 year’s when we feel it Bp gonna help raise gas price’s to crazy prices to ” help pay for there fuck up” on our fuckin dollar WTF . BP’s solutions always include oil recovery. They dont want to just cap the well , they want the goddamn oil. BP does not care about the enviroment at all. Pure Greed that’s all it is.

Scientists studying video of the gushing oil well have tentatively calculated that it could be flowing at a rate of 25,000 to 80,000 barrels of oil a day. But the government, working from satellite images of the ocean surface, has calculated a flow rate of only 5,000 barrels a day.
Scientists are finding enormous oil plumes in the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico, including one as large as 10 miles long, 3 miles wide and 300 feet thick.
Theres a tremendous amount of oil in multiple layers, three or four or five layers deep in the water column.
Will not help. better implement normal security standards or build up a pension funds like Norway.

the Gulf will eventually recover, but be ing so close to the coast, all it takes is one nasty hurricane. Gonna get gnarly real quick

Saw several articles today, with scientist who analyzed the video with a method to determine the outflow. Both researchers concluded, about 70,000 barrels (2.2 million gallons) a day. with a 20% error rate.
